The official opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games was held.

As per Idman.biz, the event was organized for the first time in history outside the stadium on the banks of the Seine River.

Azerbaijan's Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov and Deputy Minister Mariana Vasileva watched the opening ceremony from the stands.

The main core of the opening was the alternation of official and artistic parts. With the participation of the legendary football player Zinedine Zidane, the Olympic torch was delivered to the unknown hero who was waiting on a boat in the river Seine with the help of a group of 3 children. The organizers have decided to keep the person who will light the torch a secret until the last moment.

The opening ceremony started after the International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach and French President Emmanuel Macron greeted the audience.

The ceremony organized on the river Seine started with the departure of 85 ships carrying thousands of athletes from the bridge of Austerlitz. Greece, considered the founders of the Olympics, passed in front of the podium.

Lady Gaga was the first artist to appear on stage in Paris. She performed a song from a classic French cabaret with the participation of the Moulin Rouge dance group. French music star Ayya Nakamura performed at Art Bridge. She was accompanied by the orchestra of the republican guard.

The XXXIII Summer Olympic Games differ from the previous ones with gender equality. A scene dedicated to women who made history in the development of France was shown. Statues of 10 historical figures were presented to the audience.

It is not forgotten that Paris is the fashion capital of the world. The organizers presented a display of colorful clothes on a specially constructed stage.

After the hoisting of the Olympic flag, the chairman of the Organizing Committee of the competition, Tony Estange, and the president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, spoke and wished success to the athletes.

Then the process of lighting the Olympic torch was started. After the famous athletes of the world and France carried the torch, the hot air balloon with the participation of athlete Jose-Marie Perec and judoka Teddy Riner circled in the skies of Paris.

Celine Dion's "Hymne a l'amour" (Hymn to love) concluded the opening ceremony of the Olympics.

The Azerbaijani national team also participated in the parade. Our team finished 16th in front of the audience. Azerbaijan's flag bearers were judoka Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and boxer Mahammad Abdullayev.

The closing ceremony of the Olympics will take place on August 11. About 11,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete for a total of 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.

The official opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games has begun.

The parade will also be different in what will go down as the largest opening ceremony in history. Athletes will travel approximately 6 km from east to west in boats along the Seine River. Teams with large crews will be placed in two boats instead of one.

The Azerbaijani national team, which is going to Paris 2024 with 48 athletes, will also participate in the parade. Azerbaijani athletes will pass 16th in front of the audience. The flag bearers of our team will be judoka Gultaj Mammadaliyeva and boxer Mahammad Abdullayev.

The closing ceremony of the Olympics will take place on August 11. About 11,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete for a total of 329 sets of medals in 32 sports.
