He commented on the performance of Azerbaijani fencer Anna Bashta at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. The expert said that in the round of 32, she defeated Chinese Yang Hengyun (15:9) thanks to confident tactics: "The opponent was much superior than her in the world ranking. Since this was the first bout, the situation was complicated. But Anna gained an advantage at the start and protected it until the end."
Mammadov explained the reason for our sabre player's defeat to Ukrainian Olga Kharlan (6:15) in the 1/8 finals: "Anna's tactics in her meeting with the Chinese athlete did not work this time. Kharlan was ready for this move. She blocked all the attempts of the attack. It was necessary to demonstrate a fighting style against her. Anna was very emotional. Everything was clear from her actions. Kharlan, compared to our representative, seemed more calm and focused on the fight.”
