Zelym Kotsoiev: "My passion to win was stronger than my excitement" - VIDEO

"I don't know yet, I'm still a little euphoric. I can't even speak."

Olympic champion Zelym Kotsoiev told Idman.biz.

The judoka, who won the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games in the 100 kg weight class, expressed his thoughts after the competition: "I am very glad that the efforts of me, my coaches, the federation, all those who supported me, and my family paid off. Two months ago I became the world champion, now I picked up the Olympic gold. I've been going for it since childhood. My father used to take me to trainings from my childhood. I don't remember him missing a single workout. He was waiting for my regime, he was very helpful. First of all, I wanted to please him, and then those who supported me."

Kotsoiev also touched on his motivation on the decisive day: "When I woke up this morning, I felt very good. After doing the warm-ups, I tuned in from match to match. Today's tuning was beyond my excitement. My passion to win was stronger than my excitement. I didn't listen to conversations, I listened to music, I consecrate to every match like the last one."

Zelym said that Hidayat Heydarov's gold medal win three days ago was an additional motivation: "Of course, Hidayat's victory had an effect. My brother is a motivator. He supported me all day today and was with me in the training center."
