The International Olympic Committee (IOC) responded to the protest letter of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and the National Olympic Committee.

According to the information given to Idman.biz by the head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry, Gabil Mehdiyev, the IOC apologized to Azerbaijan for the statements made by the reporter of the France2 TV during the commentary of the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.

The letter stated that such words contradict the principles and values promoted by the International Olympic Committee through sports and the Olympic Games. Therefore, contact was made with the institutions and persons responsible for this issue, and the work principle and protocols of the IOC were reminded in order to avoid such situations in the future.

Mehdiyev said that taking into account the biased position of France2 TV channel, the broadcaster of the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games, against our country and the International Olympic Committee's letter of apology to Azerbaijan, they expect the French government to officially apologize to Azerbaijan.
