Azerbaijani representatives Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Zelim Kotsoyev (100 kg) were among the few judokas who won the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, where they participated as leaders of the world ranking.
Idman.biz reports, both world champions started the competition in the French capital as the first in the ranking in their weight.
Apart from Hidayat and Zelim, only one judoka was able to justify the status of rating favorite in Paris. Another athlete in the Trinity is two-time Olympic champion from Georgia Lasha Bekauri. He distinguished himself in the weight of 90 kg.
As for the women's competition, four world-ranked athletes won the title. These are Uzbek Diora Keldiorova (52 kg), Canadian Krista Deguchi (57 kg), Croatian Barbara Matic (70 kg) and Italian Alise Belandi (78 kg).
