Greco-Roman wrestlers took to the mat on the first day. Two wrestlers of the Azerbaijani national team will also compete in the Olympics. The matches will start at 17:00 Baku time.

Murad Mammadov reached the Elimination Round of 16. He met the representative of Venezuela, Raiber Jose Rodríguez Orozco, and lost 5:6. The South American athlete lost the next bout, so the Olympics ended for Mammadov.
130 kg
Sabah Shariati also started the fight from the Elimination Round of 16. Shariati faced Estonian Heiki Nabi. Although the match ended with a score of 1:1, Shariati qualified based on the last technical points. He defeated Alimkhan Syzdykov 4:0 in the quarter- finals. He will wrestle Mijaín López Núñez (Cuba) on his way to the finals.
