Two freestyle wrestlers of Azerbaijan also took to the mat. Among them, Magomedkhan Magomedov will fight for the bronze medal on August 11.

Haji Aliyev started the competition from the 1/8 finals. The first opponent of the Olympic silver and bronze medalist was Mexican Austin Gomez. The meeting ended with the victory of the Azerbaijani athlete - 7:0. Aliyev faced Ismail Musukaev (Hungary) in the quarterfinals. However, the opponent won the match with a score of 10:3. Azerbaijan's wrestler, who faced the athlete of the Dominican Republic, Luis Miguel Perez, did not give his opponent a chance and won with a score of 9:0. Magomedov tried his strength against Zbigniew Baranowski (Poland) in his second bout. He left this duel even better.
Magomedkhan, who defeated his opponent with a score of 7:2, advanced to the semi-finals. Azerbaijan's wrestler challenged Georgian Givi Matcharashvili on the way to the final. The match ended in favor of the opponent - 5:0. Magomedov will fight for the bronze medal tomorrow. His rival will be the winner of Nicolaas De Lange (CAR) - Murazi Mchedlidze (Ukraine) bout.
Azerbaijan's freestyle wrestling team went to Paris 2024 with six wrestlers. Aliabbas Rzazade (57 kg), Turan Bayramov (74 kg) and Osman Nurmagomedov (86 kg) finished the competition without medals, Giorgi Meshvildishvili (125 kg) will compete for the 3rd place.
