Olympic champion: "I'm sorry for Gashim, but it was the Olympic final"

"I'm sorry about Gashim, but it was the Olympic final."

South Korean taekwondo player Park Tae-Jun (58 kg) said this, Idman.biz reports.

The champion of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games recalled the final match in the 58 kg category. He clarified the behavior of the Azerbaijani athlete Gashim Magomedov after his injury: "The fighting style of my opponent from Azerbaijan consists of giving preference to attack and strength. In one of the episodes, Magomedov fell on the pavement after the collision of his calves. I said, "Excuse me," and Gashim replied, "No problem, it's a sport." I'm sorry about that. But all my attention was focused on the fight."

In the second round, Park behaved in an extremely unsportsmanlike manner and kicked Magomedov from the back.
