Azerbaijani taekwondo player Gashim Magomedov (58 kg), who won a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games, told reporters at the welcoming ceremony at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Idman.biz reports.

He said that his success will play a big role in the development of taekwondo in Azerbaijan: "We implement a lot of work to win a medal. We work hard all the time, all four years. I think that after my medal, more people will be interested in taekwondo and in the future this sport will be more popular. will also develop. Of course, when there is a result, the federation starts to work even better."

Magomedov emphasized that sport plays an important role in his life: "So much sweat, so much blood, and nerves have been spent in my life. All these efforts paid off. After so many years, the silver medal at the Olympics is not a joke. I tried to win the final fight. Unfortunately, I got injured. I tried, I thought it would go away. They tried to rehabilitate it somehow. The nerve was broken, so it didn't work."

In the end, the Olympic medalist thanked everyone who supported him: "I have been in Azerbaijan for almost ten years. After ten years, there is a result. I am proud to raise the flag of Azerbaijan."
