Azerbaijan Championship in rowing was launched under the organization of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation.
As Idman.biz reports, the head of the Mingechevir City Executive Authority Ilham Ismayilov, the head of the Sports Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Elnur Mammadov, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation participated in the opening ceremony of the competition.
During the speeches, it was said that the sport of rowing in Azerbaijan has experienced a new period of development in recent years. It was emphasized that the number of teenagers and young people involved in the popular sport among young people is increasing every year, and it was noted that this factor will play an important role in the formation of a professional and strong team in the future.
After the opening ceremony, the competitions started. More than 100 rowers born in 2006-2007, 2008-2009 and 2010-2011 from Baku and Mingechevir compete in the Azerbaijan championship. This is the highest indicator in domestic rowing tournaments held in recent years.
It should be noted that the tournament will be concluded tomorrow on the 24th. In addition to being awarded with diplomas and medals, the winners will be included in the national team that will participate in the President's Cup-2024 international regatta dedicated to the memory of National leader Heydar Aliyev in May.
