T he opening ceremony for the 2024 International Mingachevir Regatta in rowing, kayaking, and canoeing has taken place in Fuzuli.
According to Idman.biz, the event was held at the Lower Kondalanchay storage pool.
Among the attendees were the Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gayibov, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee Chingiz Huseynzada, Secretary General Azer Aliyev, President of the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation (AKAF) Vugar Ahmadov, and other official representatives.
The ceremony began with the national anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan, followed by a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs.
Emin Huseynov, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend regions, expressed gratitude to the event organizers: "This is a historic and significant day. For the second time, the city day of Fuzuli is being celebrated, and the organization of an international tournament here adds vibrancy to the occasion. Four years ago, Fuzuli was liberated from occupation, and our people reunited with their homeland."
Minister Farid Gayibov officially declared the competition open, welcoming the guests and wishing success to the participants: "Welcome to Qarabag and Fuzuli."
Four years have passed since the liberation of Fuzuli. The regatta will conclude on October 18.
