The veteran wrestlers of Azerbaijan won a set of medals in the World Championship - PHOTO

From October 17 to 22, the World Championship among veterans was held in Loutraki, Greece.

Idman.biz informs that Azerbaijan was represented in freestyle wrestling by Jalal Suleymanov (62 kg), and in Greco-Roman wrestling by Khalid Jafarov (70 kg) and Elgiz Mammadov (88 kg).

Jalal Suleymanov (62 kg) became the World Champion by defeating Kazakhstan's Medet Rakhymbay (4:0), Japan's Ken Kikuchi (5:0) and American Benjamin Kjar (4:1).

Although Khalid Jafarov (70 kg) beat American James Ferguson (9:1) with full advantage, he lost to Serbian Milan Maric in the semi-finals - 0:8. Jafarov won the bronze medal by defeating Sweden's Karl Granbom with a minimal margin (6:5).

Elgiz Mammadov (88 kg) disappointed Russian Shamil Abulmuslimov (9:0), Kazakh Bakytzhan Nuradinov (3:0) and American Kyle de Berry (10:2) ahead of time. Mammadov, who lost to Plamen Palev from Bulgaria with a score of 3:8 in the decisive match, became the world runner-up for the second time in a row.

Thus, the wrestlers won a set of medals in the World Cup.

It should be noted that our judges Khayal Aliyev, Sevinj Yusibova and Eldar Bayramov provided justice in the WC.
