ISSF Junior World Championship: 3rd in history

The Azerbaijani national team won the first silver medal in the ISSF Junior World Championship.

Idman.biz reports that the championship started in Lima, the capital of Peru.

The Azerbaijani team, consisting of Zeynab Sultanova, Leyli Aliyeva and Sofiya Barkhalova, won the second place in the women's team air pistol shooting competition at a distance of 10 m. This is the 3rd medal and the first silver in the world championships of our national team.

The snipers have advanced to the podium twice in Peru. The Junior World Championship, which was held in Russia for the first time in 2017, is being held for the 4th time. The successes of our team, which did not win a medal in the championship held both in Moscow and 4 years later in Lima, were recorded in the city of Changwon, South Korea.

In 2023, our shooters distinguished themselves in the women's individual competition in air pistol shooting from a distance of 50 m. Kristina Aliyeva won gold, Leyli Aliyeva won bronze.

Leyli, who returned from Asia with bronze, got silver this time with the team. He was our first representative to win two medals at the youth world championships. Our team, which has one gold, one silver and one bronze, was happy with success in the team competition for the first time.
