An opening ceremony for the open championship of the "Umid" and "Alpman" taekwondo clubs for children, teens, and youth has taken place.
Idman.biz reports that the event was organized at the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ Sports and Health Club.
Attending the opening ceremony were Farid Gayibov, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hikmat Samadov, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Taekwondo Federation (ATF), along with other ATF officials. Special guests included MMA fighters Tofig Musayev and Vugar Karamov, sports ambassador Farida Azizova, and Firdovsi Umudov, Vice President of the Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation.
Following the playing of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan, Minister Farid Gayibov delivered a speech highlighting the significance of international competitions held in the country and wishing success to the tournament participants.
Hikmat Samadov also noted that the championship would be beneficial for the future development of the participants.
The ceremony continued with exemplary performances and musical interludes.
It is worth mentioning that the tournament features 649 taekwondo athletes from 45 clubs. The event, which includes teams from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia, will conclude on October 13.
