President of the Azerbaijan Triathlon Federation Farid Farhadzade shared his impressions about the national championship held in Mingachevir and talked about his upcoming plans.
According to İdman.biz, the head of the institution noted that for the first time in history, the national championship was not held in Baku "There are excellent atmosphere in Mingachevir and we are satisfied with the course of the championship. He brought together more than a hundred participants, forty of whom were young men and teenagers. We are satisfied with these figures, triathlon in Azerbaijan is gradually expanding. The Federation will continue its propaganda work," Farhadzade emphasized.
He also spoke about the results of the team’s leader Rostislav Pevtsov: "I can confidently say that he will get a license for the Olympics and will perform in Paris in his third Games."
Farkhadzade added that one of the main tasks of the federation is the training of local triathletes, and all the prerequisites for this are present. "When I became the president of the federation, we had only a few athletes. Now their number is much larger, young people are very interested in it. And we will continue our activities in this direction," said Farhadzadeh.
He added that the federation expects to bring the famous Ironman brand to Azerbaijan. Iron distance races are one of the most massive competitions that attract triathletes from all over the world. "The negotiations are about to be concluded. These tournaments gather a large number of participants, there is great interest in them. In Azerbaijan, "Ironman" will attract more tourists, and besides, it will ensure the arrival of the world’s triathlon elite," concluded Farhadzadeh.
