Dadash Dadashbeyli, the winner of the European Weightlifting Championship held in Sofia and the Azerbaijan national team member returned home.
Idman.biz reports that the athletes were met at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Azerbaijan Weightlifting Federation, coaches and athletes.
Azerbaijani team was represented by 9 athletes at the European Championship.
Dadashbeyli won a gold medal in the deadlift by overcoming the weight of 176 kg. In the snatch, he overcame his competitors by taming the weight of 212 kg. The leader of the team, who showed a total of 388 kg (176+212), advanced to the top of the podium.
It should be noted that with this, Dadashbeyli became the first athlete to win the gold medal of the European Men's Weightlifting Championship for Azerbaijan after 12 years.
