Artur Jorge, former footballer, national team coach and coach of FC Porto, the European champion in 1987, has died.

Idman.biz reports that the football veteran died at the age of 78.

He died in Lisbon this morning after a long illness. The specialist's death was caused by cardiac arrest.

The former player of the Portuguese national team scored 1 goal in 16 games for the national team. The striker has played for Porto, Academika, Belenenses, Benfica and Rochester Lancers of the United States. Jorge was a four-time Portuguese champion as a footballer.

The specialist, who started coaching in 1980, coached many clubs, including Porto, Benfica and PSG, as well as Portugal, Switzerland, and Cameroon national teams during his rich career. With Porto, he won the Champions Cup (1986/87), the Portuguese championship three times, and the French championship once.

It should be noted that Jorge's last place of work was the MC Algeria club, which he coached in 2014-15.
