The Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestling team returned home after completing the training camp in Croatia.
Idman.biz reports that the chronic injury of the team captain, Eldeniz Azizli, continues.
The 3-time world and 2-time European Champion, who did not participate in the ranking tournament, returned early because of increased pain during the training camp in Poreč. Last year, before the European Championship, he was left out of intensive training because of the injury to his sternum. According to the doctors' recommendation, the Azerbaijani title wrestler should undergo a recovery process for several months and be satisfied with light exercises. This means that Eldeniz, which has competed in the last 6 Continental Championships, will not be able to participate in the European Championship to be held on February 12-18.
The condition of our other injured wrestlers is normal. The condition of Nihat Mammadli and Murad Mammadov, who were injured in the ranking tournament, is improving. The Azerbaijani wrestlers, who could not participate in the Poreč meeting due to injuries, will most likely be able to participate in the European Championship. The same can be said about Rafig Huseynov, who did not go to Croatia because he was sick.
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan national team will undergo the final preparation process for the continental championship to be held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, at the training base of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation.
