Magomedkhan Magomedov (97 kg) was the first wrestler to receive a license for the Olympics at the World Championship held in Belgrade.
İdman.biz website informs that the wrestler reached the final by defeating wrestlers from Serbia, Turkey, Germany and Georgia.
This success earned Azerbaijan an Olympic license in 97 kg. Magomedkhan Magomedov shared his impressions with the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation: "How many years have we been practicing and preparing. I thank my father for being here. I express my gratitude to Azerbaijan, the leadership of the federation, and the coaching staff. God was on our side today. I had lost to Georgian wrestler twice before. I got my revenge here.
About my opponent in the final, I can say that we are both surprises for each other. We have never met before. He is very young and a good wrestler. He beat Kyle Snyder by a landslide. He defeated Abdulrashid. However, Sadullayev had an injury. He was not in good shape. Frankly, I would like to face Abdulrashid in the final. We have wrestled in tournaments many times before and I lost to him. But this time I was not lucky to meet him. The dream of all normal and self-respecting athletes is to become an Olympic champion. We will try for it. Our goal is to succeed first in the European Championship, and then in the Olympics."
It should be noted that Magomedkhan will face Bahrain representative Ahmed Tajudinov in tomorrow's final.
