"It's a great feeling. It is true that I have reached the final of the world championship before. This race was very important for me."
İdman.biz informs that this was said by Sanan Suleymanov (77 kg), a member of the Azerbaijani national team in Greco-Roman wrestling.
The wrestler, who reached the finals of the world championship held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, has secured a license for the Paris-2024 Summer Olympic Games. He shared his impressions about this success with the press service of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation: "I could not get results in several competitions for certain reasons. My teammates and coaches know how I was preparing for competitions. It just didn't work for some reasons. But I said my word in this world championship. I reached the finals and qualified for the Olympics. I will face Kyrgyzstan's Akjol Mahmudov. I will try to get revenge. My biggest dream is to become a world champion."
Suleymanov also spoke about the meetings he had: "I faced 5 opponents. It was all very difficult. I would mention the first meeting. The Finnish wrestler was the world champion among U-23. I won't hide it, I was very excited before the first match. Because I could not succeed in the last races. Later, I came face to face with an American wrestler. He was a dangerous opponent. After passing it, I met a Moldovan athlete who is strong both physically and tactically and technically. I chose the appropriate tactics for each meeting. During the match, I tried to wrestle actively so as not to give the judges a chance to make decisions against me. I fought from the beginning to the end. I was able to show the wrestling I wanted. I thank everyone who was with me even when I lost. I dedicate this success to them."
He said that he wishes for revenge in the final that will be held today: "I lost to Akjola in the final of the Islamic Solidarity Games due to the parter situation. I will try to win this time. I came here to be a champion. Hopefully, by winning, I will fulfill my dream and dedicate my victory to our people. I wish good luck to my other teammates. They all deserve it. Hopefully, they will win a license to the Olympics and medals."
