Taleh Israfilov, head coach of Azerbaijan's Greco-Roman U-17 national team, told Idman.biz.
He evaluated the performance of his team participating in the European Championship organized in Serbia. Israfilov said that the competition was held at a high level: "We only had a problem with children's nutrition. There were no other concerns. The result of our youth on Armed Forces Day was a double celebration for us. We defeated 2 Armenians in 2 finals and climbed to the top of the podium. We were also first in the team score. The Armenian national team finished this competition in second place. I trusted my team even before the competition. Because we had good training and were preparing for these competitions. Each one satisfied me with its result. I believed in them that they will not leave our suffering on the ground. It is a good thing that it happened."
According to him, becoming the European champion for the third time as a team makes them even more proud: "This result only gives a person a sense of pride. Our team will make us happy by performing like this in the next competitions. After returning to the homeland, we will discuss plans with the management. Later, we will plan our future work and look at our way again."
9 of our 10 wrestlers won medals (3 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze) at the European Championship in Novi Sad and surpassed everyone in the team score with 183 points.
