"Despite being rivals, our relationship has always been good."
Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestler Eldeniz Azizli (55 kg) told Idman.biz after his rival’s death.
Azizli said he was very saddened by the death of one of his main rivals, Georgian wrestler Nugzari Tsurtsumia. According to him, he and the world champion were friends off the carpet: " Tsurtsumia and I were rivals for many years, but we were friends outside. The last time we met was 20 days ago. We talked and joked... This year was a bit difficult for Nuqzari. His mother died of cancer, his father died of a heart attack. The worst thing is that at the age of 7, his little brother was left alone."
Eldaniz also emphasized his daughter's love for Nugzari: "Tsurtsumia was my daughter's favorite wrestler."
Tsurtsumia was found dead in his house in Khobi last night. The cause of death has not yet been announced.
