Azerbaijan to Send 25 Wrestlers to U23 World Championship in Albania

From October 21 to 27, the U23 World Wrestling Championship will take place in Tirana, the capital of Albania.

Idman.biz reports that over 650 athletes will participate, with Azerbaijan being represented by 25 wrestlers across three disciplines: Greco-Roman, women's wrestling, and freestyle.

Greco-Roman Wrestling

Azerbaijan will field 10 Greco-Roman wrestlers, including:

• Vasif Baghirov (57 kg)

• Ruslan Abdullayev (61 kg)

• Rashid Babazada (65 kg)

• Magomed Khaniyev (70 kg)

• Jabrayil Gadzhiyev (74 kg)

• Ali Tsokayev (79 kg)

• Arsenii Dzhioev (86 kg)

• Abduljalil Shabanov (92 kg)

• Aslan Abakarov (97 kg)

• Yusif Dursunov (125 kg)

Women's Wrestling

In the women’s category, five wrestlers will compete for podium finishes:

• Elnura Mammadova (50 kg)

• Gultekin Shirinova (55 kg)

• Jala Aliyeva (57 kg)

• Guler Habibova (59 kg)

• Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg)

Freestyle Wrestling

Azerbaijan's freestyle wrestling team will also be well-represented, with 10 athletes:

• Farahim Mustafayev (67 kg)

The competition kicks off with the Greco-Roman wrestlers, followed by the women’s and freestyle events.
