World Championship: Rashad claims silver, Khasay secures bronze

The U23 World Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, Albania.

According to Idman.biz, on the third day of the championship, Greco-Roman wrestlers competed in five weight categories, with two Azerbaijani athletes fighting for medals.

Rashad Mammadov, who won all his previous bouts, reached the final. His opponent was Ahmadi Vafa from Iran. Despite his efforts, Mammadov lost 3-11, finishing as the world runner-up.

Khasay Hasanli, who still had a chance for bronze, faced Belgium's Ibrahim Tabaev in the repechage match. Khasay secured a 3-2 victory. In the bronze medal match, he went up against Temuri Orjonikidze from Georgia and won convincingly with a 7-1 score, claiming the bronze medal.

On the first two days of the championship, Azerbaijan's only medal was won by Nihad Guluzade, who secured bronze in the 60 kg category.
