World Championship: Jala Aliyeva advances to semifinals

The U23 World Wrestling Championship continues in Tirana, Albania.

According to Idman.biz, on the fourth day of the competition, two more athletes from the Azerbaijani national team joined the battle.

World Champion Jala Aliyeva entered the competition from the first round. In the round of 16, she defeated Ukraine's Alina Filipovych with a score of 7-4. Following that, she also bested Turkiye's Sevim Akbas with a commanding score of 10-0. Jala will face Sofia Macaluso from the USA in the semifinals.

Ruzanna Mammadova faced Kyrgyzstan's Kalmira Bilimbekova in the round of 16, winning the match 4-1. However, she lost her next match to Viktoria Vesso from Estonia, with a score of 1-7.

In the World Championship, Azerbaijan’s Greco-Roman wrestlers achieved remarkable results: Rashad Mammadov (55 kg) won a silver medal, while Nihad Guluzade (60 kg) and Khasay Hasanli (77 kg) secured bronze medals. Gular Habibova (59 kg) will compete against China's Hong Liang in a consolation match.
