Eldaniz, Nihat, and Ulvu secure World Championship titles

The World Championship for non-Olympic weight categories concludes today in Tirana, Albania.

According to Idman.biz, medalists will be determined in four weight classes, and Azerbaijan’s wrestlers have medal opportunities in each. Three have reached the finals, while one competes in the repechage round.

World Championship - Greco-Roman Wrestling

55 kg
Three-time world champion Eldaniz Azizli competed for his next title against Iran’s Poya Marza. With a score of 1:1, Eldaniz secured victory due to technical superiority, winning his fourth world title.

63 kg
Nihat Mammadli faced Yerzhet Zharlykassyn from Kazakhstan in the final, winning convincingly with a score of 6:1 and claiming the top podium spot.

72 kg
Ulvu Ganizada competed in the finals against France's Ibrahim Ghanem, narrowly winning 3:2 to secure the gold medal.

82 kg
Gurban Gurbanov remains in contention for a medal. In the repechage, he defeated Uzbekistan's Jalgasbay Berdimuratov 5:0, advancing to the bronze medal match.

Women’s wrestling events are also set to begin today.
